Yes thats what its been. It all started with Man Utd at Everton. With Alex Fersuson deciding not to risk Rooney's temper to the baying Everton crowd,Utd sailed into a 3 1 lead and into injury time. Then bang,2 Everton goals in dying seconds from nowhere and Alex has a face like thunder. Pure comedy.
Next its down to Upton Park. Comedy marking for the first Chelsea goal and that is nothing compared to the second. Robert Green is still Mr Butterfingers and Matthew Upson's clearance to Salamon Kalou's heel and its over the keeper and into the net. Pure fluke but pure comedy. As for the West Ham miss at the end from 2 yards out with an open goal.....the less said the better eh Lee!
Then its over to the Emirates and another disastrous piece of Arsenal defending. Well the Gooners recovered I suppose but with flabberjack Almunia for a goalkeeper, they'll win nothing again this season.
Then there's the new England wonder goalie over at Man City. What a cock up between Joe Hart and Kolo Toure! Still,at least City got a valuable point at home to the mighty away specialists Blackburn Rovers.
The funniest part of the day also came from the City Of Manchester stadium via the BBC's Final Score. When the reporter at the end of game was interupted by an angry fan who shouted "The Refs a wanker" which you could hear quiet clearly from the comfort of your armchair. The BBC issued an immediate apoligy but it was pure comedy cock-up live tv at its best.
Just to round up the day,Ferguson junior's Preston North End were also 3 1 up and live on BBC2. With a few minutes remaining they collaped and lost 4 3 to local rivals Burnley. Like father like son eh Darren! Alex was in the crowd watching too and I bet they had a pleasant evening NOT!
Hi Longy, It was rather a strange day wasn't it?!
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell was Hart doing there?
Anyway if it wasn't for Samba the score would have been at least 4-1(and not forgeting the blatant pen for the foul on AJ)if that had been at The Swamp it would have been given!!
Your boys have started like the preverbial house on fire...we will douse it when you visit us!!
I think Hart has been watching too many Almunia videos Trevor! That was a poor result for you though and cocked up many a fixed odds coupon (including mine!)
ReplyDeleteWe didn't play that well yesterday to be honest but still deserved the win. We will have to step up a gear when we go to your place or we'll come unstuck (again)
One thing I,ve learnt after watching City for 40 years,NEVER put money on them!! We could be 6-0 up with 10 mins to go and we'd conspire to lose 6-7.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we will see our best team in action until Kolarov and Boateng are fit and settled into the team plus the introduction of Balotelli!
Yes City are the only team I've seen score 3 goals in the last 5 minutes in a Wembley Cup Final and still lose lol.
ReplyDeletesaw this on the bbc website today:
ReplyDelete"Middlesbrough manager Gordon Strachan is turning to John Lydon, who was the lead singer of punk band the Sex Pistols, to kick-start the team's season. Strachan recently met Lydon and has been inspired by the words "Anger is an energy" in his 1986 hit Rise. "I hope we are angry because anger is an energy. We are angry with ourselves - there is no one else to blame," said Strachan, whose team lost 3-0 at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday."
i bought a newspaper saturday morning and on the back page it said newcastle had gone 26 games unbeaten at home, nuff said - gonk
ReplyDeleteHello Gobshyte. I would be suicidal if I was Strachen, never mind angry!

Yea I saw that Gobshyte. Utd should try the Togo trick lol
ReplyDeleteLongy
All too familiar and predictable early season form for Utd. Why can't we hit the ground running? Tragic injury to Valencia - this will hit us hard.
ReplyDeleteYes that was a terrible blow for Valencia. You always know its a bad one when they don't show it again. I wish him a full recovery.
ReplyDeletei know its not your real team and i know u dont care about league cup but i wont get the chance to say this very often - haha - Gonk
ReplyDeleteOf course I care Gonk. You deserved to beat us mate so well done. Now fuck off lol!
