Justice for football tonight me thinks. The Dutch were a discrace and deserved to lose (sorry topper but its true) Howard Webb wasn't much better the blind twat. How he didn't send De Jong off I'll never know.Congratulations Spain. Not the best team in the tournament in my opinion but certainly the best on the night.

ReplyDeleteCertainly De Jong should have had an early shower.In ice hockey he would have had his lights punched out.It was a very difficult game to referee.Webb did a credible job considering the very cynical play of the Dutch.The Dutch probably should have been down to 8 men at the final whistle.And then there are quality players like Iniesta and Robben who are 'divers'.

Congrats Spain - well deserved, not the greatest advert for world football but you have to admire Spain defensively as well as offensively. Pique and Puyol for me are their weak link but having said that they've hardly conceded. With a fully fit Torres they would be some team.

ReplyDeleteDoug - Webb didn't have an easy task that's for sure but just because its a World Cup Final,its no excuse to bottle it. And in De Jong's case he did exactly that.
