Wigan 0 The Undertones 1

It doesn't happen very often but I actually missed a League game at Stamford Bridge against Wigan Athletic yesterday in order to see The Undertones instead. I watched our game on the computer anyway and,as it turned out,it was a very wise decision by yours truely. An awful game and a lucky goal and a 1 0 Chelsea victory. If we play anything like that at Old Trafford on Tuesday then its curtains for the Champions League and dreams of Wembley glory.

Fortunately,I was actually entertained at last nights fantastic gig. 16 quid well spent as The Undertones stormed through their entire debut album on their 35th anniversary tour. Then a whole load of hits to boot. In the end,I couldn't resist going down the front and by time the final number "Mars Bar" came on,I was dripping with sweat, covered in beer and totally out of breath. Didier Drogba and co could learn a lot from the boys from Derry. They entertained me and didn't cheat me!

  3. Hello 06 and arstider. I would quite happily pay £50 to see them again to be honest. They really were superb. Only a small venue 250/300 people crammed in and all of them loved it.

arstider - I don't miss blogging music/vids at all but I do miss some of the banter. Unlike the Undertones,I won't be making a comeback though:)

  5. great band Longy, brings back loads of great gig memories - Buzzcocks, SLF, Ruts, Clash, Damned, John Peel's Festive 50 etc. Halcyon days

You just know that Tuesday's game has got some late surprises in store. As Sir Alex says - squeaky bum time!

  6. Glad your team won arstider and I am a man of my word. No comebacks here mate - Evander Hollyfield I ain't!

Hi Mullers - well something is bound to happen I agree and as a Chelsea fan and as this is the Champion League,I am expecting us to go out in a "heart-breaking" fashion of some kind. Last season was a one off against Inter. We like to go out feeling all bitter and twisted as a rule. Perhaps we'll win 1 0 and go out on penalties again lol
