Ricardo Carvalho: Farewell to a legend

Chelsea have agreed a fee with Real Madrid for defender Ricky Carvalho, believed to be in the region of 6.7 million. Not bad for a 32 year old who's best days are behind him. Still a fantastic player when fit and such a clever positional defender. No one in the game is better than him at getting away with fouling either. We will miss him. He has been and is an absolute legend and worth every penny of the 20 odd million we paid for him.

Good luck at Madrid Ricky.

  2. Morning Gobshyte. I haven't seen any highlights of the Irish game to be honest mate. Lansdowne Road it will always be to the masses.

    PS I'm good thanks:)

  3. Always reminded me of Adam Ant for some reason?

I suppose the Aviva is slightly better than the Friends Provident stadium?

  4. Adam Ant? More Lord Percy!

Friends Provident Stadium? What does that make your shack then? The Happy Shopper Stadium!

  5. Really a Great Player, one of the best portuguese defenders of all time. Together with names like Humberto Coelho (maybe our Bobby Moore) and Germano or Fernando Couto and Jorge Costa this last played for Middlesborough and i guess his nick name there was Tank. ehehe

    Cheers

  6. Man Utd now i guess they want another portuguese defender that reminds me Rio Ferdinando playing, and it´s a tall defender also. Plays for Porto and his name is Rolando. Started playing on my football team, CF Os Belenenses. My soccer team was the team who played the 1st match in Santiago Bernabéu,the R.Madrid stadium.
It was a classic team in the past, and the best player Pélé played against was our classic defender Vicente. He was also in the 66 World Cup.

  7. He was one of Chelsea's greatest ever defenders too Marion.

This Rolando sounds like a cross between Ronaldo and Roland Rat lol.
