The best goal ever scored

I don't know what the best goal ever scored was I do like the first one on this compilation by George Best and obviously Shevchenko's superb goal for Chelsea at Spurs. I was surprised there were no Zola goals on this comp though.

The question is simply, what was the greatest goal ever scored?

Times up for Fergie

Manchester United and Alex Ferguson remind me a bit of myself and my old Austin Allegro. I knew the car was old and would pack in anyday but I still ran it into the ground until it did. Luckily I was at a roundabout doing approx 2mph when it finally conked out on me.

The point is,how much more are United going to rely on Sir Alex? When is he going to retire and more importantly, who would be an ideal replacement for him?

Alex Higgins: R.I.P.

Despite all the bad things he did in his life, you couldn't say he wasn't a great entertainer in the world of snooker when he was at the top of his game. Alex led a colourful life and went downhill once the booze took over his life and he whacked that referee! But he was a true sporting character - the George Best of snooker if you like. Seeing those last pictures of him in the papers looking so frail was a sad and pitiful sight. I only hope he finds peace in that great green biaze in the sky.

R.I.P. Hurricane Higgins (a nutter but an entertaining one)

Ross Turnball: Is he really Scottish?

I've seen some calamity Goalkeepers in my time but this one takes some beating. I remember watching Ross's debut in the reserves online last season where he made 4 fatal error's in a four nil home defeat to Aston Villa. The warning signs were there then and he obviously hasn't improved if yesterday's first half against Ajax is anything to go by. Two more fatal errors and with Petr Cech injured and only another dodgy keeper (Hilario) ahead of him in the first team queue,Chelsea have a massive problem before a ball is even kicked in anger this season.

With a name like Ross,a free transfer and the fact he couldn't even make take the number 1 spot at the mighty Middlesborough,I can only assume our English goalkeeper has some Scottish blood in him. Come back Les Fridge, all is forgiven!

Footballer guilty of gun murder

A footballer cleared of murder three years ago is facing a life sentence after being convicted of another gun killing.

Former Millwall striker Gavin Grant (no relation to Avram) was involved in a series of "tit-for-tat" shootings in and around a "lawless" council estate, the Old Bailey was told.

Grant, 26, who also played for Wycombe Wanderers before joining Bradford City as a non-contract player until the end of last season, was found guilty of gunning down Leon Labastide, 21.

Stephen Batten QC, prosecuting, said many of the people involved in the case had been linked to shootings and drug dealing on the Stonebridge Park Estate, in Harlesden, north west London. He told the jury: "Attitudes and standards are different. It is more the law of the jungle than the law of civilised England. You will hear about and see people whose behaviour will probably disgust you and make you wonder if there is any hope for the human race. If he hadn't of ever played for Millwall, this would of never happened"

In August 2007, Grant was found not guilty of shooting Jahmall Moore, 22, who died in a hail of 16 bullets fired by three gunmen in January 2005.

But on Friday he was found guilty of Mr Labastide's murder in January 2004 after trials last December and this month. The court was told it was Mr Labastide's killing which led to the second murder and a spate of shootings on the estate. Grant denied involvement and said Mr Labastide, who was known as Playboy, was a friend.

Operation Trident gun-crime detectives believe there were up to 30 connected shooting incidents in the area arising from the fall-out. Following the arrests of Grant and others, officers said shootings fell by almost 50% in the area. Stonebridge Park, although still notorious for drugs and crime, has seen improvements with a £250 million regeneration.

Gareth Downie, 25, was also found guilty of murdering Mr Labastide. Damian Williams, 32, was found guilty of conspiring with them to murder Mr Labastide. All the verdicts were by 10-2 majorities. They were all remanded in custody for sentencing on Monday.

Roberto Parchment, 24, originally convicted of Mr Moore's murder, was found guilty again following a retrial in December brought about by supergrass Darren Mathurin's involvement. He was jailed for life again and ordered to serve the remainder of his 28-year sentence. Romain Whyte, 25, was cleared of that murder by a 10-2 majority verdict.

Grant, from Kenton, north London, Williams, of Southwark, south London, and Downie of Markby Road, Birmingham, all face life sentences.

Harry Redknapp has finally lost the plot!

Harry Redknapp masterminded Spurs' highest Premier League finish of fourth last term, setting up a maiden Champions League campaign for the club.

And the 63-year-old claims he has the players to end what would be a 50-year wait for the league championship at White Hart Lane.

"I feel we could contend for the title; we have got the players here," said Redknapp, who has added only the Brazilian midfielder Sandro to his first-team squad so far this summer.

"We have to aim for it. We could win the championship"

Yes and I could be shagging Cheryl Cole tomorrow night!

Football Legends: Trevor Brooking (online documentary)

If you've got a spare 51 minutes on your hands then you could do far worse than to watch this very old (well over 20 years) online docu on Sir Trevor Brooking. Despite a lifetime of complete dislike for the Hammers,Trevor is one player I have always admired and could of loved to of had at my club. Instead we got bloody Alan Dickens who set the world alight with 48 appearances in 4 years, scoring a mighty one goal!

Input from the late Bobby Moore,Ron Greenwood & John Lyall amongst others as well as other West Ham legends such as Billy Bonds,Frank Lampard senior and Sir Geoff Hurst. Its a pity there's no reference to the year of this but I'll take a rough guess at around 86/87 but it could be eariler.

My football season starts tomorrow

How can you get excited by a 500 mile round trip for a pre-season friendly away at Crystal Palace? Good question but I am. I can't wait for tomorrow. We are not even playing a full strength side as the players on World Cup duty won't be there. But at least I'll get to see Yossi Benayoun in a Chelsea shirt for the first time eh? Maybe I'm not so excited afterall then!

EDIT: A one nil win for the lads. No Benayoun and only Cech,Alex,Mikel and Essien recognised first teamers in the starting line up. Loads of reserves and youth team players played or came on as subtitute's which was good to see. A lovely sunny day,kick-off delayed 15 minutes due to the 21,000+ attendance, nice pre-match ciders in the local boozers and it was great to be back watching what I love - the beautiful game!

Emile Heskey retires from international football

When did the c**t start then?

Football Betting

I'm probably not the only one in the world who likes a flutter on the football and I do like an anti-post bet on who is going to win all the leagues. Looking at this Ladbrokes slip, who would you bung money on this time round?

For me the premier League win be won by Chelsea the 13/8 favourites. The Championship I'm going for newly promoted Norwich at 14/1. League One I think Southampton the favourites are certs at 11/4 and for League 2 I like the look of Gillingham to go back up at a tasty 9/1.

A £5 win accumalator on the above pays £7368.

Who's your money on?

Manchester City: Are they genuine title contenders?

What do you think Manchester City's chances are for this season? Judging by that little survey over there >>> a couple of you seem to think they might win the League (and yes Trevor,I know one of those people were you!)

City are thought of as some kind of joke in the red half of Manchester and for such a big club not winning a major trophy since Dennis Tueart scored a rather good overhead kick vs Newcastle (another massive underachiever) in the 1976 League Cup Final at Wembley, its not really surprising. I'll be honest,I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Citeh and up until 1997 have always likened them to another underachieving team in that reside in a certain area of west London.

But City are a different beast now. A bottomless pit of money (and please don't tell me you can't buy success.....we did!) and an ambitious owner. Some of the best players in the League too (not sure about the Manager yet personally)

I will be amazed if they don't come in the top 4 this season and it wouldn't surprise me if they are right in contention for the title right up until the end of April (when Chelsea and Utd just edge ahead)

I'm predicting a 3rd place finish for Citeh this season. What do you reckon?

Are Chelsea FC the most generous club in the world?

Its a far cry from the days when Ken Bates was chairman and we were chucking our spare change in buckets to try and "save the Bridge" No today's Chelsea FC are generous beyond belief. Last week they sent me this season's Season Ticket (£690 quids worth) and today they only send me ANOTHER one!

Have they gone mad?

Spain 1 Holland 0

Justice for football tonight me thinks. The Dutch were a discrace and deserved to lose (sorry topper but its true) Howard Webb wasn't much better the blind twat. How he didn't send De Jong off I'll never know.

Congratulations Spain. Not the best team in the tournament in my opinion but certainly the best on the night.

Special One TV

You don't have to tell a Chelsea fan that Jose isn't the Special One (although he didn't win us the Double like Ancelotti did!) and if you have been following Special One TV on BBC3,you'll know he still is very special.

I love this show and if you missed it,here are the 6 World Cup episodes from Youtube.

The World Cup Final: Holland vs Spain

To be honest the whole World Cup has been a bitter disappointment to me. The standard of football has been pretty awful in my humble opinion and I'm not just talking about England! Now its just down to the 3rd place place off and final itself and to be honest,I'll be glad when its over. No more annoying vuvuzela's,no more smug Lineker,no more high-pitched Jonathan Pearce,no more Adrian Chiles,no more balls flying 500 feet over the bar & no more diving Robben. Yep I'm really going to miss it!

I think Spain will win the World Cup final 1 0 and Germany will win the 3rd place play-off 2 1

What about you?

Welcome :)

This blog is very much under construction at the moment and its been so long since I created my old blog,I haven't really got a clue what I'm doing!

Anyway for those like the football banter and can take some serious ribbing about their appalling teams and pathetic players, you might just have come to the right place.

Warning: There may be serious discussions here on occasions too and probably a spatter of bad language at times. If you are easily offended, then get the fuck out of here now :) Go and support West Ham if you need a sense of humour.
